]]>This isn’t really a walk as such, but the poppies at West Pentire are now such a popular sight in late spring/ early summer that I couldn’t resist popping up to see them myself. These poppies are on the route between Polly Joke and Crantock which I wrote about here.
The fields of poppies are specially cultivated along with marigold to allow a safe haven for wild flowers, birds and even hares.
If you get the chance to head up and see them, please stick to the paths so the plants and any critters amongst them aren’t squashed and trodden on.
The fields are all free to access, but please stick to the paths around the edge.
There is pay and display parking at West Pentire.

]]>This walk starts at Polly Joke, or Porth Joke beach near the town of Newquay.
On the north side of the beach, head through the kissing gate and up the narrow path on the other side.
This heads up to West Pentire, famous for its poppies in the spring. Soon the path rounds towards Crantock beach, a popular surfing haven.
The whole walk follows public footpaths.
There is a small carpark a short distance from Polly Joke, and another at Crantock.
